Shinjuku Incident by Tung-Shing Yee

Seen to be Jacki Chan’s first real dark character, Steelhead is a more vulnerable personality that you find difficult yet exciting to associate with Chan, who is more well known for playing comical characters seen in such films as Around the World in 80 days with Steve Coogan.

Yee’s Shinjuku Incident is a film based on revenge, exploiting scenes of violence and gore, with one character losing his hand! A tale of a ‘lowlife’ attempting to leave a life of fraud and criminality, this film houses all kinds of emotions that an audience would expect from a gory gangster film… revenge, blood, guts and serious dark characters trying to make their way in life.. the kind of East Asian film that Western societes have come to expect from these types of directors.
